Espresso. Mac web development, now more productive than caffeine.

Freedom to Extend

The truth is that we can not make Espresso perfect for everyone out of the box. That's why, right from the start, Espresso will have an extensive plug-in architecture. To add new languages, CodeSense support and much more, you won't need to write a single line of code: everything goes into ultra-readable XML files. We call these plug-ins Sugars — after all, they make Espresso so much sweeter.

Tapping into the awesomeness

Espresso's built-in functionality uses the exact same Sugar Development Kit that will be available for everyone else. That has one major consequence: every Sugar can be just as great as the built-in functionality! Sugars are never second-class citizens, and they'll get even better as Espresso grows.

Getting Sugars

The Public Beta currently doesn't come with any third-party Sugars. If you'd like to check out what sugars are in the works, browse the Espresso Forums or have a look at Coffee House (thanks to Alex Gordon!).

Calling all Sugar Daddies

If you're interested in extending Espresso, we'd love to hear from you! For maintainers of great Sugars, we have two perks in store: you receive the prestigious title of Sugar Daddy (or Sugar Mommy), and you will get Espresso for free when it hits 1.0!

Requirements

Espresso requires Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or higher. Public Beta is time-limited and needs to be updated regularly.

There Will Be Bugs

If you're afraid of some wonkiness, please walk away now. While Espresso is not going to devour your canary, it is still in beta. If something weird happens, we'd love to have your feedback! Why a Public Beta?
